What You’ll Do
As our shelter veterinarian, you will:
- Provide basic and emergency care for shelter animals.
- Perform high-volume spay/neuter surgeries, including pediatric procedures.
- Oversee medical treatment, vaccinations, and wellness protocols.
- Guide and support vet techs, animal care staff, and volunteers.
- Develop and advise on disease prevention, sanitation, and shelter policy.
- Recommend off-site veterinary care as needed.
- Assist with adoption counseling, foster care support, and public education.
- Perform or supervise euthanasia procedures when necessary.
- Contribute to training, community outreach, and ongoing shelter improvements.

What You’ll Need
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD)
- New York State Veterinary License (active and in good standing)
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing surgical sterilizations and managing veterinary protocols
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and community service
