What You’ll Do

As our shelter veterinarian, you will:

  • Provide basic and emergency care for shelter animals.
  • Perform high-volume spay/neuter surgeries, including pediatric procedures.
  • Oversee medical treatment, vaccinations, and wellness protocols.
  • Guide and support vet techs, animal care staff, and volunteers.
  • Develop and advise on disease prevention, sanitation, and shelter policy.
  • Recommend off-site veterinary care as needed.
  • Assist with adoption counseling, foster care support, and public education.
  • Perform or supervise euthanasia procedures when necessary.
  • Contribute to training, community outreach, and ongoing shelter improvements.

What You’ll Need

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD)
  • New York State Veterinary License (active and in good standing)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing surgical sterilizations and managing veterinary protocols
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • A genuine passion for animal welfare and community service
