A highly respected nonprofit animal welfare organization just minutes from Hartford, CT and centrally located in Western Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Director & Shelter Veterinarian to lead its medical team and continue transforming lives — for animals and the people who love them.
Each year, we help over 20,000 animals — cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more — through comprehensive programs that span adoption, community services, and veterinary care.
What You’ll Do:
As our Medical Director / Adoption Center Veterinarian, you’ll:
- Lead a team of dedicated veterinarians and technicians
 - Provide medical care to adoption center animals (including diagnostics, treatment, surgery, and follow-up)
 - Ensure regulatory and protocol compliance
 - Collaborate with leadership to support and grow impactful programs
 - Help shape the future of animal welfare in your community
 
You’ll be supported by an experienced, well-trained medical and operations team that shares your commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation.
What We’re Looking For:
- DVM or VMD from an accredited school
 - Licensed (or eligible) to practice in Massachusetts
 - Massachusetts controlled substance license & DEA license
 - Strong leadership and communication skills
 - Full-time availability
