We’re looking for a primary veterinarian to join and help lead an established small-animal clinic in the Madison area.
The clinic has been part of the community for more than 20 years. The practice became part of an independently owned veterinary organization located just a few miles away. Today, we’re investing in the clinic and looking for the right veterinarian to help shape its next chapter.
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your day-to-day medical practice and client relationships while having an experienced veterinary team close by for collaboration, mentorship, and support.
WHO THIS ROLE MAY BE RIGHT FOR
You’re a veterinarian who enjoys getting to know your clients and their pets. You believe good veterinary medicine includes listening, educating, building trust, and looking at the patient’s needs over the long term.
You appreciate having enough time to work through cases thoughtfully and enjoy the relationships that develop when you care for patients and families year after year.
You may be an experienced veterinarian looking for more autonomy, or a veterinarian earlier in your career who would value having experienced colleagues nearby to lean on.
Most importantly, you’re looking for a great team, a meaningful role in the community, and the opportunity to help shape a growing practice.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the primary veterinarian at the clinic, you’ll have a broad general-practice caseload that includes:
- Wellness and preventive care
- Vaccinations
- Diagnostics
- Dentistry
- Minor procedures
- Ongoing medical case management
- General small-animal surgery
For surgical cases or situations where another perspective would be helpful, you’ll have access to the experienced veterinary team at the nearby main clinic, including a respected surgeon.
An experienced practice manager will oversee the business and operational side of the clinic, allowing you to focus your attention on medicine, clients, and your team.
SUPPORT WHEN YOU WANT IT
Although you’ll have a significant degree of independence, this isn’t a “figure it all out yourself” position.
The main practice is only a few miles away and includes two experienced DVMs and approximately ten support team members. They provide an additional resource for consultations, surgical support, coverage, and mentorship.
The satellite clinic will initially have a small, dedicated team consisting of you, a technician, and the practice manager, with additional support available from the nearby location.
The clinic has room for two DVMs, and we’re currently remodeling and updating the space with the future in mind.

The long-term vision is to continue building a respected, locally rooted veterinary practice that provides excellent care for pets throughout their lives while continuing to support the animal welfare community.
For the right long-term fit, there is also a potential path to partnership.

One of the strengths of the practice is its people.
Many of the technicians and assistants have been with the organization for years, creating a stable and experienced support team. The culture is collaborative, hardworking, and intentionally focused on finding people who are a good fit for one another.
You’ll be joining a group of people who care about their patients, take pride in their work, and enjoy working together.
SCHEDULE
The clinic currently operates during normal business hours, with flexibility to adjust the schedule as the practice evolves.
There is no formal on-call rotation and no scheduled weekend rotation. After-hours emergencies are handled through relationships with local emergency hospitals.
Full-time is preferred, although we are open to discussing 0.8 FTE for the right veterinarian.
When time away is needed, the team works together to arrange coverage.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$130,000–$150,000 base salary, depending on experience
20% personal production, paid monthly, with your base salary serving as your guaranteed floor.
There is no negative accrual, so a slower month does not create an obligation to repay compensation.
